quilt monday from Quilt Nut Creations

It might still be summer, but we are thinking all things winter and Christmas to prepare for the upcoming holiday season. And some fall quilt shows.

This little cutie features an Andover Christmas line from last season, Retro HoHo . I love that it's more winter than Christmas.

quilted with Dragon's Breath

I kept the quilting more neutral and I think the choice was the perfect one.

I had just enough left of this fun pink fabric for the backing.

I really love these fabrics, they are more seasonal than festive.

And that star fabric for the binding, love ...

One of my favourite quilt patterns is plus quilts. I've had this pattern for so long that I don't even remember where I downloaded it from.

I originally made this quilt up as a store sample using the Flower Box line by Andover and some coordinating Linen Textures solids. And once I got the quilt top together, I decided to hang onto it for my mom's birthday and gift it to her.

I adore how this turned out.

The colours just pop!

As does the quilting.

 Hi!!!

I made this quilt probably close to a year ago to be a sample for kits I wanted to make. And I didn't. Why, I have no idea because the quilt is so, so lovely.

This is the Vintage Lace pattern by Lo & Behold Stitchery.
This is the smallest(baby) size, it measures 48x48.
And it contains 320 2.5inch squares.
320.

I absolutely love how the two colour version is so soft and yet so striking.

I darkened the picture so you can see the piecing better.

I had just enough pieces of ...

With being in eight(!!) quilt shows this year, I've been working hard behind the scenes to make new store samples.

This quilt I've now made a few times(one was a Christmas version). This version came about as I as moving some fabrics around and inspiration struck.

quilted with Contempo

This is the Bird's Hill quilt by The Blanket Statement. I was inspired by the Kona's. These are the Kona colour of the year fabrics for 2021, 2022 and 2023 and I think they work perfectly together.

It's funny how in the pictures you can ...

This has quickly become one of my favourite baby quilt patterns. You may recall that I have made this exact quilt at least one other time; I've made a few other colour versions as well. It's a fun one!

quilted with Laurie

This is the free pattern from Dear Stella, Dreamtopia. You can find the pattern here .

It's a great pattern, goes together quickly and I love how you can highlight some of your favourite prints.

I loved how the light was laying in this picture.

I've since made another of these all in pastels and ...

I know it's been awhile. And I have to be honest, I feel like blogging is a dying art/interest and that makes me sad.  But I do love doing it, I just don't make it a priority as much as I probably should. Also, I really enjoy having a place where I can go back and look at the things I blog.

So saying all of that, I'm not going anywhere. I just might not be posting as much. But I will!

Now, onto some quiltie goodness.

I made this quilt last fall as store sample ...

 I love this baby quilt.

Absolutely love it.

The softness of the fabrics, the quilting, it all went together just perfectly.

Sorry the picture quality isn't the greatest on these.
We haven't seen the sun in what feels like forever and that makes taking quilt pics difficult.

quilted with Cotton Candy

The grey fabric is a linen look fabric and the peachy/pink has a small heart shaped floral; it is just adorable.

I used a grey grunge for the binding.

And had just enough of my favourite flannel to finish up the backing.

And now it's ...

This is the second quilt I made for Christmas.

I hadn't planned on making any and I find it funny that the two I did make were a queen-size quilt and a little quilt.

But when I saw this quilt, I couldn't resist making it.

This is the Take Me to the Magic Again Snowman pattern by Sterling Quilt Co.

I've made two of Sterling's Magic quilts before, both the originals.
You can see them here and here.

I used one of my favourite Christmas prints as the background for these cuties ...

 Hi!

Remember me??!

I totally got out of the habit blogging  so working on that again this year.

Onto the good stuff!

Our third son asked for a quilt for Christmas. I wasn't going to make him one since I had made him a Christmas quilt for his bed last year.

But the Wednesday before Christmas, I decided to give it a shot and cut out a quilt. The Friday and Saturday before, I sewed the top together.

I was able to carve out 2hours on Christmas Eve for quilting.

Almost a Christmas miracle.

This is the Expanding Stars ...

 Diamond Ripples.

Have you made one yet?

Because I want to make this pattern all the time and in every single fabric line.

It makes the perfect lap size quilt.

The best nap size.

quilted with Ground Cover

I might already have a spring version using these fabrics ready to cut out too.
Just thinking of all the different colour combinations you could do with this pattern.

I think my favourite part is the binding.
I used the same fabric as one of the prints in the center of the blocks.

And one of my favourite widebacks for the backing ...

 This quilt.

I ADORE this pattern.

This is the third one of these I've made and I'm already planning a fourth :)

This is Cluck Cluck Sew's Pumpkin pattern.

Want one of your own?
You can find the pattern here.
We have kits available, just not on the website yet.

Anyways, the quilt.

quilted with Pumpkins

How many versions of a quilt can you make before it becomes an obsession? lol

I can't pick a favourite pumpkin because they are all my favourite.

I love sneaking in an unexpected one like the cream and green ones.

I made this quilt on a whim one weekend.

And turns out it is one of our best selling kits.

This is the Grand Beach quilt.

The pattern is by The Blanket Statement and it is fabulous.

Because the quilt is so striking,
I wanted to kept the quilting as minimal as possible so I went with straight lines.

Sorry the colours are so dark on some of these pictures,
the camera on my phone went a little funky.

I went with black for the binding.
I feel it really settles the quilt while giving it a pop.

If you ...

This is the Vintage Lace quilt by Lo & Behold Stitchery.

I had seen this quilt so many times on social media that I took it as a sign that I needed to make one for myself.

And here it is.

I really wanted to do the two colour version. While I was putting it together, I was worried it would be too blah. But I love the softness of it.

What I didn't except was the 370 2.5inch HSTs this quilt is constructed with.
370 2.5

They may have been worth it.

I wanted to really quilt ...

Guess what? Another baby quilt today!
And it's not a plus quilt lol.

I found this fabric in my stash and have no idea where it came from lol.
But it was perfect for a quick baby quilt.

The prints are just adorable.
It turned out cuter than I had expected.

quilted with Cotton Candy

I used an older pantograph that I forget about a lot but always looks fantastic.

The backing was a stashed flannel print that I wish I could again.
It's one of my favourites for baby quilts.

Just so sweet.

Happy Monday!

I made this quilt so quickly that I didn't even have a chance to post about it. That's what happens when your favourite niece is leaving for university  and at the last minute(5 days before) you decide you ARE actually going to make her a quilt.

A few months ago, I had tossed the idea around of making her one so I had the pattern and I knew what colours/fabrics so that was all good. But could I pull it off?

The pattern is Simply Dashing by Highway 10 Designs.
It was so quick and fun ...

It's another baby quilt today!
I actually have quite a few actual quilts to show you, I just need to get pictures done of them first.

I haven't been making a lot of these lately. I've been busy making lots of quilt gifts and samples for the store and as a result, baby quilts have taken the very far backseat.

I had fun with this baby quilt and used some super bright fabrics and I love how it turned out.

I wish the camera had picked up the colours more.
It was a dark day when I ...

10yrs ago, I made a few high school graduation quilts.
It quickly turned into making a grad quilt for each of my friends children upon their graduations.
And to make the quilts more special, each and every quilt was different.
I never repeated a quilt pattern.

For each grad, a year or so before grad, I ask the grad or close family members and go from there.

This year marked my sixteenth, and final, high school grad quilt.
And it just might be my favourite.

This is the Landmark quilt by The Blanket Statement.

I have a two for one for you today.

As you know, this is one of my favourite quilt patterns.

I was able to make these out of scraps which in my books, makes them even better.

quilted with Laurie

I matched the colours in the blocks to the border print.

Of course I went with a snuggly flannel on the backing.

I love the blue for binding.

This is the second version of the quilt.

 And we are back!

Hope you haven't had any trouble finding me again. Have you taken a look at the shop page? It's looking fantastic! There are some great deals tucked in there as well. You can find the store here.

I posted about this quilt a few weeks ago, that post is here

It turned out soooo good.

I made one of these for myself but I used bone as the background instead of tan.
It's surprising at how different the quilts look by just changing that. You can see my post about the other quilt ...

I had some time to fill the other day so I jumped at the chance to get my Bird's Hill quilt quilted up.

I couldn't decide how to quilt this so I went online and looked up what others had done.
Straight line quilting was the most popular so that is what I did.

I think it was the perfect choice.

All the fabrics I used are from the Wilshire Weld line.
I currently have them on sale in the shop; you can find them here.

I used another print from the line as the backing. I don ...
